METROPOLIS, Ill. — Lee Morris Lavender, 87, of Metropolis, formerly of Vienna, died at noon Friday at Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He taught elementary education for 29 years at South Holland Elementary School, District 151. He was a member of the Illinois State Retired Teachers Association and Johnson County Retired Teachers Association. He was a member and past master of Vienna Masonic Lodge 150 AF&AM and a member of Vienna First Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, Mark Lavender of Oak Forest; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lis Lavender. His parents were Herbert L. and Bernice L. Lavender.

Masonic rites will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Services will immediately follow. Burial will be in Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
