ELIZABETHTOWN, Ill. — Lawrence Frederick Thornton III, 21, of Elizabethtown died Friday.
He was a dispatcher for the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department, a medic for the Illinois National Guard, a volunteer fireman, and a nursing student at SIC.
He is survived by two sons, Braden Thornton of Elizabethtown and Migel Gomez of Herrin; five brothers, Codey Spurr of New Haven, Dusten Spurr of Rosiclare, David Thornton and Kayle Spurr, both of Elizabethtown, Ill., and Zachary Thornton of Portage, Ind.; his parents, Lawrence Frederick Thornton Jr. and Rachel Thornton (Spurr); his paternal grandparents, David and Carol Young; his great-grandparent, Rosemary Smith of Knox, Ind.; and his great-great-grandmother, Ann Yelkich of Wallparaiso, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Smith.Hardin County Funeral Services and Cox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
