MURRAY — Kenneth “Jack” Bailey, 95, of Murray died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the European theatre with the 1st Army, 258th Field Artillery Battalion. His unit landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day+6. He served in combat from June 1944 to May 1945. For combat service in France, Germany, Belgium and Holland, he earned five battle stars, including the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed by TVA and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Thelma Bailey; one niece, Becky Smith of Murray; two nephews, Ernie R. Bailey of Murray and Bill Bailey of Paducah; and one great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by one brother. His parents were Ernest Carlton Bailey and Annie Laurie Miller.

Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rick Dye and the Revs. Bob Saywell, Jim Stahler and Jason Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Murray City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 21, 2013, at the funeral home.
