LOCKPORT, Ill. — Judith Fay “Judie” Werth, 72, of Lockport, Ill., was taken by the hand of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, September 27, 2012, from her home after a courageous and difficult battle with carcinomatous meningitis and lung and brain cancer.
Judie was born on September 26, 1940, in Paducah, Kentucky, to James F. and Jessie M. (Culp) Smith.
Survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Harold; daughter, Jan Werth; sons Harold “Butch” and Kurtis Werth; two cherished granddaughters, Joyanne and Lauren Werth, all of Lockport; two brothers, Jamie (late Joyce) of Paducah and Jack (late Shirley) of Jackson, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Vivain (Berry) Cabeen of West Frankfort; the entire church family of First Baptist Church in Lockport; her grand dogs, Koby and Oliver; and numerous aunts; uncles; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jessie (Culp) Smith; and a daughter-in-law, Kim Werth.
Judie touched many lives with her sense of humor, love of God, compassion, generosity, and love of life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The First Baptist Church, Lockport would be appreciated. Per Judie’s wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
Judith’s family will greet relatives and friends Thursday, October 4, 2012, from 4:30 p.m. until time of memorial service at 6 p.m. at The First Baptist Church, 800 Thornton St. in Lockport.
