SAN DIEGO — Juanita Seaton, age 87, of University City, San Diego, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2012.
She was born on May 21, 1924, to Alma Anna Mading and Wallace Jennings of Ballard County, KY. Her family included five half-sisters and three half-brothers. She married Charles Herman Seaton on September 9, 1944, in New London, Connecticut. As a Navy wife, Juanita lived in numerous military locations and worked as a cosmetologist for over 25 years; retiring in May, 1983. Her last position was manager of the beauty shop at Naval Training Center (NTC), San Diego. After retiring, she enjoyed working part-time at Merle Norman and Panache in La Jolla, CA. She was a member of Eastern Star and enjoyed walking, travel, painting, her family, and many friends. Just last year, Juanita fulfilled a lifetime travel dream, touring England, Switzerland, and France with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter, Katharine.
Juanita is survived by her daughter, Paula; son-in-law, Lou; grandchildren, Charles, Elizabeth, and Katharine; Elizabeth’s husband, Adam, and great-granddaughter, Avery. Other survivors include Joe Hargrove, La Wanda Crews, and Janice Monahan, all of Kevil, KY.; Ruthie McCabe of Paducah, KY.; Roy Hargrove of Statesville, North Carolina; Jerry Hargrove of Barlow, KY., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herman Seaton; her son, Charles Wallace Seaton; two half-sisters, and her parents.
Per Juanita’s wishes, her ashes will be carried by submarine to sea and scattered; as was her husband’s ashes. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3rd, 2012, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. (Hwy 290 South, Cabrillo Memorial, San Diego, CA., 92107.) The service will be followed by a reception at the Seaton residence. All are welcome.
