WICKLIFFE — John E. Verbeck, 64, of Wickliffe, formerly of Rosemont/Washington Park, Ill., died at 3:38 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Baptist Health Paducah.
He was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Wickliffe, a retired carpenter, and an U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by one son, John Cole Verbeck of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Janet Doublin of Paducah and Novell Simmons of East Carondelet, Ill.; two brothers, Thomas Verbeck and Herbert Simmons, both of East Carondelet; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
His parents were Charles Wayne Verbeck and Margaret F. Verbeck Simmons.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at Mounds National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill., with Rev. Dee Hazelwood officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon Monday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe.
