John Joseph O’Reilly Jr., age 89, of Paducah passed away October 22, 2012, at 7:15 p.m. at the Lourdes hospital.

Mr. O’Reilly was born in New York City, N.Y., on August 29, 1923. He worked in construction as a Plumber and was a life member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 001 out of New York City. He help build the Empire State Building and the Pan Am Building, and retired from BF Goodrich in 1985. He was a Veteran of both the United States Army and Navy.

Surviving are his niece, Vicki Powers and husband Delbert of Reidland; two great-nieces, Julie Smith and Kim Yates, both of Reidland; and one great-nephew, Andrew (Andy) Powers of Reidland; four great-great-nieces, Brandi Rogers, Kennedy Powers, Josie Powers and Andi O’Reilly Powers, all of Reidland; three great-great-nephews, Jordan Smith of Nashville, Mitchell Hinzman and Garrett Hinzman, both of Reidland.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Rose Kreutzer O’Reilly; two sisters, Frances Brown and Meta Knapp. His parents were John Joseph O’Reilly Sr. and Meta Doscher O’Reilly.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Mount Kenton Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Wright officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today at Keeling Family Funeral Home.
