METROPOLIS, Ill. — Mr. John Lipert, age 99, of Metropolis, Ill., formerly from New Jersey, passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Michael Christopher Mujule will officiate. Burial will follow at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. John was a retired millwright and a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
John is survived by two daughters, Hedy Glembocki and husband Frank of Spring Lake, N.J., and Jan Warner and husband Jim of Port Townsend, Wash.; one son, William “Bill” Lipert of Metropolis, Ill.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Helena Sabaranska of Poland; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Ludwika Lipert; one grandson; one sister and two brothers. His parents were Barney and Albina Lipert.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening April 5, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

John’s family will serve as the pallbearers.
