LA CENTER — John W. Hawthorne, 78, of the Gage community died at 3:19 a.m. Wednesday at his home.

He was a life-long farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Hawthorne; two sons, John Hawthorne and William Hawthorne, both of Cunningham; and two grandchildren.

There will be no services. Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center is handling arrangements.
