BENTON — John Godwin Gay, 86, of Benton, died at 9:44 a.m. Wednesday at Lourdes hospital .

He was a retired operator for Air Products and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Grillo Gay; four daughters, Diana L. Duncan of Benton, Cynthia Jeanette Cavitt of Paducah, Carolyn Rose Hottinger of Louisville, and Kathleen Webb of Lexington; one son, John Richard Gay of Benton; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

His parents were John Wesley Gay and Ruby Deane Godwin Gay.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Marshall County Memory Gardens with the Rev. Joel Frizzell officiating. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
