METROPOLIS, Ill. — Janet R. Spencer, age 75, of Metropolis, Ill., formerly of Joliet, Ill., passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 6 p.m. at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, Ill.

Janet was born December 9, 1937, to Harold and Mary Shanks Mundt, who preceded her in death. Janet was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

Graveside and burial services will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Frank Forthman officiating.

She is survived by two daughters, Dana Jones and Lori Spencer, both of Metropolis, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Wesley Puhl, Diane (Doug) Chandler, Frank (Jennifer) Henderson, Donnie (Heather) Spencer, Mary Etherton, Ashley (Chad) Williamson and Nate Jones; eight great grandchildren, Hannah Etherton, Jalynn Henderson, Tyler Etherton, Jaxon Henderson, Austin Etherton, Jordyn Henderson, Drake Williamson, and Aubrey Williamson.

She was preceded in death by one son, David Spencer.

There will be no visitation, family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
