METROPOLIS, Ill. — Mr. and Mrs. James Lewis of Metropolis will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at Seven Mile Baptist Church in Metropolis. All friends and relatives are invited. Only out-of-town invitations have been sent. The couple request no gifts.

Mr. Lewis and the former Shirley Ann Peebles were married March 14, 1953, in Corinth, Miss.

Mrs. Lewis is retired from the Good Luck Glove Co. in Metropolis. She is the daughter of the late Charles and Gladys Peebles.

Mr. Lewis is retired from LaFarge in Joppa. He is the son of the late Walter and Phoebe Lewis.

They have three children: James “Butch” Lewis, Jamie Schabbing and Sherri Sisk, all of Metropolis; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
