Mr. and Mrs. James G. Whiteley Sr. of Paducah will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 21 in the parlor of Immanuel Baptist Church. All friends and relatives are invited. The couple requests no gifts.

Mr. Whiteley and the former Janet Marie Hamm were married Aug. 20, 1961, by Dr. A.D. Odom at First Baptist Church in Maysville. Their attendants were Jean Daniels Fugate and Paul Lam Whiteley.

Mrs. Whiteley is a retired Clark Elementary School teacher. She is the daughter of the late Ollie Edward and Irene Hamm.

Mr. Whiteley is a retired Paducah Tilghman High School teacher and administrator. He is the son of the late Rev. Gordon Craig and Nina Mae Whiteley Sr.

They have two children: Sherry Whiteley Olsen of Seattle and Dr. James G. Whiteley Jr. of Louisville; and five grandchildren.
