METROPOLIS, Ill. — James Stegman, 82, of Metropolis, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2012, at Lourdes hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012, at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with the Rev. Richard Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
James was a Korean War Army veteran, a retired mechanic from EEI, and a member of the Oaks First Church of God. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed.
James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maxine (Kersey) Stegman; one son, Galen Stegman and wife Nicole; three daughters, Beth Lovelace, Sharon Harrell and fiancée Tony Myers, and Rhonda Casper and husband Mike, all of Metropolis; seven grandchildren, Miranda Groh, Marissa Flannery, Mitchell Stegman, Ryan Creson, Megan Lovelace, Nathan Harrell, and Austin Casper; and five great-grandchildren, Demi Groh, McKali Groh, Madison Flannery, Ella Harrell, and Amelia Harrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice (Averitt) Stegman; nine sisters; and one brother.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Harrell, Ryan Creson, Austin Casper, Mitchell Stegman, David Groh, and Ryan Flannery.
