CAVE-IN-ROCK, Ill. — James Harley Rose, 87, of Cave-In-Rock died Friday at Mt. Vernon Health Care Center.

He was a member of Mt. Zion General Baptist Church and an ordained General Baptist minister for 60 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a 31-year employee of the Illinois Department of Public Aid.

Surviving are his wife, Eileen Rose; four sons, Clifford Rose and Eddie Rose, both of Harrisburg, Tom Rose of Cave-In-Rock, and Lowell Rose of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Clara Augusta Srygley of LaMont; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-in-Rock, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery with military rites.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 6 p.m.
