James Albert Lowery, 70, of Paducah died at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Calvert City.

He was a member of Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he was former superintendent of the Sunday school. He was a member of Teamsters union 236, and a retired truck driver for Tri-Mac Trucking Company.

He is survived by one son, Jeffery Albert Lowery of Paducah; two daughters, Angelia Woodard of Cleveland and Sophia H. Lowery of Paducah; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, John H. Lowery of Paducah and James Clyde Lowery of Cleveland; and two sisters, Wilma Twig and Gloria Ferguson, both of Paducah.

His parents were James Clyde Lowery Sr. and Sophia Mae Parsons Lowery.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Rita Story officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
