James G. Stephens, 88, of Paducah (formerly of Nashville) joined the Lord at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the McCracken County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Paducah.
He was a member of Heartland Worship Center where he was known for his Bible teaching, working with the youth and his love for the Lord. He was a graduate of Vanderbilt University where his baseball records still stand today. He was a founding Board Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Nashville. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and worked for Ingram Industries as a Marine Engineer.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carol Cosby Stephens of Paducah, Ky.; two daughters, Pammela Sue Olson of Nashville, Tenn., and Catherine Ann Moore of Paducah, Ky.; one son, Bryan Lee Oldham of Paducah, Ky.; five grandchildren, Schauna Rudolph, Elizabeth Reid, Rebecca Johnson, Christian Ward and Jay Hampton; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Henry and Sarah Marshall Stephens.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Officiating will be Rev. Johnny Sams and Bobby Warren.
Burial will follow at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Ky.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
Pallbearers will be Chad Rudolph, Bryan Olson, Christian Ward, Steve Howell, Jay Hampton and Daniel Reid.
