J.D. Seay, 93, of the New Hope Community, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Lourdes hospital.
Mr. Seay was a retired farmer and a veteran of the Army during WWII, where he served as a Military Policeman throughout the Middle East. He was also a lifetime member of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and an Elder for over 50 years. J.D. faithfully served his church and his community.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Wilma (Hunt) Seay; two sons, Billy R. Seay and wife Sharon and Mark D. Seay and wife Jana, both of the New Hope Community; one daughter, Nancy Hughes and husband Doug of Paducah; seven grandchildren, Robin Gholson, Tammy Griffith, Kelly Layfield, Gwyn Parsons, Tracy Edging, Amber Olmeda, and Jared Hughes; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Elizabeth (Gross) Seay; three brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Curtis Franklin and Rev. Doug Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah and after 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at the church.
