Howard Walker Jr., 63, of Paducah died at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Walker was a member of Broadway Church of Christ of Paducah. He retired from the Governors office of Local Development as a Field Representative. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Paducah Lodge #127, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Paducah Fraternal Order of Police, and a 44 year member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 184 in Paducah. He served six years in the Army National Guard. He also served 12 years as McCracken County Sheriff from 1982-1994. He was a recipient of the 2009 Lewis Hicks Life Time Achievement Award and the 2010 W.C. Young Award.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ginger Bell Walker of Paducah; two daughters, Lori Walker Boyles and husband Derek, Julie Walker Edwards and husband Aaron both of Paducah; one brother, Kevin Walker of Paducah; one sister, Sandra Holshouser of Calvert City; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Boyles, Evan Boyles, Hudson Edwards, Madelyn Edwards and Olivia Edwards; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Walker Sr. and Elizabeth (Hodges) Walker; one brother, Donald Walker; two sisters, Gina Walker and Tammy Elrod.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Broadway Church of Christ of Paducah with Dan Owen officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Broadway Church of Christ.
