Hettie E. Bradford, 65, Paducah, KY died Friday, August 10, 2012, 3:32 P.M. at Lourdes hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
Hettie was a member of The Lord’s Sanctuary Apostolic Church, where she served in the evangelism ministry. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and attended Kennedy King College in Chicago, Illinois. She worked in several hospitals as a practical nurse and worked at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, CA., caring for former actor Robert Young.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Charles Edwards and Lucille Jackson Edwards; two sisters, her twin, Heddy Edwards and Shirley “Bodie” Edwards, and one brother, Sie Lee “Cat Daddy” Edwards.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Charles D. Bradford, Paducah, KY., whom she married on March 7, 1975, in San Diego, CA. Charles and Hettie nurtured and raised several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, including Steven Henderson of Indianapolis, IN., Torrino Edgar Edwards of Atlanta, GA., Kayla “Donna” Jackson of Ventura, CA., Mia Henderson of Indianapolis, IN., Nicholas Wyatt Reed, Blake Denson, Tyler Scarbough, Brenden Marcus Edwards, and Jordan Kyle Edwards, all of Paducah, KY. Also surviving are an aunt, Beatrice Baxter of Memphis, TN.; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; brother-in-law, Isaiah B. “Vita” Bradford, and sister-in-law, Brenda Shumpert, both of Chicago, IL.
Memorial services are scheduled for 6:00 P.M. Friday, August 17, 2012, at Oasis Christian Center, 3232 Buckner Lane, Paducah, KY., with Pastor Martha Howell officiating.
The family will also receive visitors Friday from 4:00 P.M. until the memorial hour at the Oasis Christian Center.
