George Blas Mendiola, 72, of Paducah died at 12:50 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Lourdes hospital.

He was a retired civil service explosives handler in Agana, Guam. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his children, Tina Blas of Las Vegas, Thomas Mendiola and Ken Mendiola, both of Paducah, and Peter Mendiola of Santa Clara, Calif.; several grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosita Quintanilla Mendiola; and one son, Michel Mendiola. His parents were Pedero P. Perez and Carmen Blas Mendiola.

Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.  Visitation will also be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Bunkers Mortuaries in Las Vegas. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2013. Burial will be at Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev.
