CAIRO, Ill. — Services for George A. “Happy” Mattingly, 82, of Cairo will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. The Rev. Chris Mujule will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Villa Ridge, with military rites conducted.
Mr. Mattingly, a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, died Monday morning at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cairo, Cairo Elks Lodge No. 651 and the Cairo Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2649.
Mr. Mattingly is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen Reed of Dallas; one son, Carter Mattingly of Dallas; one sister, Martha Mattingly of Ullin; three nephews; two nieces; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters. His parents were George Dickerson and Catherine Ellen Carter Mattingly.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
