BROOKPORT, Ill. — Gary Richard Varvel, 60, of Brookport died Monday at Western Baptist Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Varvel; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Varvel of Metropolis; one son, Gary Gene Varvel of Brookport; one granddaughter; three stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister. His parents were Howard and Gladys Irene Varvel.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Brookport Church of God with Charles Tate and Rocky Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Otterbein Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at Brookport Church of God. Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
