Ellen (Wenzel) May, 61, of Summerfield, Florida, passed away peacefully the morning of Tuesday, December 4, 2012, after a very short, but hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born June 17, 1951, in Harrisburg, Illinois, and her parents moved to Paducah, Kentucky, shortly after.
For 38 years she worked in the health care field as a Registered Nurse, and Occupational Health Nurse. She retired in January 2012 from Sekisui Specialty Chemicals America, LLC in Calvert City. She moved from Kentucky to Indiana for several years and finally moved to her dream home in Summerfield, Florida.
She was of the Catholic faith attending St. Timothy Catholic Church in Florida and St. Francis De Sales in Paducah.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Frankie May of Summerfield; one daughter, Elizabeth May Thompson and husband Bobby of Indianapolis, Ind.; one son, James “Jim” May and fiancée, Stephanie Smith of Chatham, Va.; her mother, Ruby Ellen Haney Wenzel of Paducah; two sisters, Ginny Grief and husband Marvin of Gilbertsville Ky., and Jackie Simpson and husband Ricky of Kernersville, N.C.; one brother, Larry D. Wenzel and wife Joyce of Gilbertsville, Ky.; two grandchildren, Emily S. Thompson and Ethane James Thompson; several nieces; and nephews; as well as one great niece.
She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel E Wenzel.
Funeral Mass for Mrs. May will be 12:00 noon on Monday, December 10, 2012, at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Roby officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. May will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December, 9, 2012, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with prayers at 5:30 p.m.
