MAYFIELD — Ella J. Barnard, 88, of Mayfield, formerly of Fulton, died Thursday at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield.

She was a member of South Fulton Baptist Church and worked for the former Excel automotive company in Fulton in housekeeping. She served in SPARS in the U.S. Coast Guard.

She is survived by her husband, Carrol W. Barnard; five children, Sandra Anderson of Winchester, Va., Dee McClay of South Fulton, Tenn., Raymond Barnard of Nashville,Tenn., Fred Barnard of St. Charles, Ill., and Paula Thomas of Louisa, Va.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Myers of South Carolina; and three brothers, Ross Johns of Indianapolis, Roe Johns of Clymer, Pa., and Olen Johns of Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Her parents were Raymond and Orpha Johns.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton.
