BENTON — Doris Pickering, 80, of Benton died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Western Baptist Hospital.

She was a homemaker and member of First Presbyterian Church of Calvert City, where she taught the adult Sunday School class and in Nortonville for a combined 50 years of service.

She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne P. Mitchell, and one grandson, Stuart Mitchell, both of Atlanta.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Eugene Pickering. Her parents were Howard Maxwell and Sarah Langston Maxwell.

Services will be noon Monday, December 31, 2012, at Collier Funeral Home with the Rev. Adele Ambler officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in New Salem Church Cemetery in Nortonville.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home.
