Minister Cecil J. Barnette, 62, of Paducah passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012, 6:17 p.m., at Western Baptist Hospital.
He was a member and associate minister of Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon board and in the Evangelism Ministry. He was a retired chemical operator of Elf Atochem in Calvert City, Ky. He was a member of the Keystone Club of the Oscar Cross Boys and Girls Club and was named “Boy’s Club Man of the Year” in the 1980s. He was a 1967 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Mid-Continent University.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cecilia White Barnette of Paducah; two sons, Steven Perry Barnette of Paducah, Ky., and Cecil Jabbar Barnette of Murray, Ky.; one daughter, Tanya Renee’ Barnette of Paducah, Ky.; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Gerald Barnette of Springfield, Tenn., Doyle Robinson of Aurora, Ill., Ronald Springfield and Randy Springfield, both of Paducah, Ky.; two sisters, Marva Francene Barnette of Atlanta, Ga., and Celia Crosby of Paducah, Ky.; three aunts, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Earl Barnette and Fannie Frances Williams Barnette.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 6 p.m., August 6, 2012, at Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend James L. Hudson officiating. Entombment will follow Tuesday, August 7, 10:30 a.m., at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at the church Monday August 6, 2012 from 4 p.m. until the funeral hour.
