Jim and Debbie Carter of Murray announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Fields Carter, to Douglas Kent Story Jr., son of Andy and Cathy Hillmann of Gilbertsville, and Patty Story of Madisonville and the late Doug Story.

Miss Carter is the granddaughter of the late Joe Edd Emerson, the late Linda Emerson Story, and the late J.L. and Anna Carter. She is a 2001 graduate of Calloway County High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations and liberal arts in 2005 and a master’s degree in mass communications in 2009, both from Murray State University. She is an alumna of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and is employed as marketing and recruitment coordinator at the Murray State University campus in Henderson.

Mr. Story is the grandson of Linda Jenkins of Paducah and the late Guy Jenkins, and Ira Lee and Bonnie Story of Hopkinsville. He is a 2004 graduate of Marshall County High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in history in 2010 from Murray State University. He is an alumnus of Sigma Chi fraternity and is employed as assistant manager at AT&T in Evansville, Ind.

Wedding vows will be exchanged at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Lovett Auditorium on the campus of Murray State University. All friends and relatives are invited to the ceremony and reception following at the Murray Country Club. Only out-of-town invitations are being sent.
