GRAND CHAIN, Ill. — Mrs. Carolyn Sue Buttrum, 65, of Grand Chain, Ill., passed away at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Union County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. The Rev. Alton Carter will officiate. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Carolyn was retired from Laidlaw and was a member of Eastland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Buttrum; one daughter, Susan Triplett of Metropolis; one son, Michael Conley of Metropolis; stepchildren, Sarah Buttrum of Olmsted, Ill., Amanda Vazquez of Grand Chain, and Sandra Buttrum of Belknap, Ill.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Ann Kirksey of Metropolis; two brothers, Raymond Bowman of Metropolis and Kenneth Bowman of Rosebud, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Bowman and Lois (Ball) Allen; and her 1st husband, Larry Conley.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening September 6, 2012  at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
