MURRAY — Betty Lee Barber Gore, 83, of Murray died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at her home.

She graduated from Murray State Teachers College and taught at Morton High School in Morton, Ill., and Madisonville High School. She retired from teaching in 1989 with 23 years of service, the last 12 with the Calloway County School System as a kindergarten teacher at Southwest Elementary. She also taught Sigma kindergarten, Lutheran pre-School and kindergarten, Murray State University kindergarten and pre-School. She was a member of Kappa Delta Phi, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Calloway County Retired Teachers Association, a First Christian Church and the CWF.

She is survived by one son, David Gore of Richmond; two daughters, Emily Kennedy of Murray, and Betsy Bond of Pembroke; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Bailey Gore; one daughter, and one sister. Her parents were M.U. Barber and Editha Cook Barber

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ruth Ragovin and David Roos officiating. Burial will follow in Murray City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the funeral home.
