LEXINGTON — Ashley Marie Powless and John Cothran Barret were united in marriage September 11th, 2010, at Tates Creek Presbyterian Church with Chad Hampsch officiating. Music was presented by Miss Amory Cox of Campbellsville, Ky., pianist; The String Quarter of Lexington, Ky.; Miss Megan McCallon of Nashville, Tenn., vocalist; and Mr. Jared Wood of Dallas, Texas, vocalist. Miss Katie Powless of Newburgh, Ind., served as reader.

The bride is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven A. Powless of Paducah. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Barret of Weatherford, Texas.

The bride chose Miss Laura Williams of Nashville, Tenn., as her maid of honor and Mrs. Caitlin Bowman of Louisville, Ky., as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Margaret Fields of Springfield, Ky., Miss Katherine Flynn of Paducah, Ky., Mrs. Jackie Turner of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Janie Schneider of Greenville, Ill., Mrs. Kelli Dougherty of Branson, Mo., and Miss Julia Barret of Austin, Texas, sister of the groom. Flower girls were Miss Alexis Schroeder of Newburgh, Ind., and Miss Olivia Mounts of Fort Campbell, Ky.

The groom chose David Hudspeth of Denton, Texas, as his best man. Groomsmen were Mark Barret of Weatherford, Texas, brother of the groom; David Barret of Dallas, Texas, brother of the groom; Ryan Powless of Charlotte, N.C., brother of the bride; Blake Edwards of Malibu, Calif.; Will Deaver of Fort Worth, Texas; Brad Mooney of Dallas, Texas; and Charles Admire of Denton, Texas. Ringbearer was Zane Schroeder of Newburg, Ind.

A reception followed at the Signature Club of Lansdowne. Miss Amanda Maddox of Paducah, Ky., and Miss Emily Fortney of Lexington, Ky., served as greeters.

The groom’s parents hosted a reception for the couple on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, in Fort Worth, Texas.

The bride is a 2005 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, a 2009 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and a 2010 graduate of the Kanakuk Institute in Branson, Mo., and is currently attending Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing in Dallas, Texas.

The groom is a 2005 graduate of Peaster High School in Peaster, Texas, a 2009 graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, with a bachelor’s degree in finance, and a 2010 graduate of the Kanakuk Institute in Branson, Mo. He is currently employed by Nations Equipment Finance.

The couple resides in Dallas, Texas.
