TUNNEL HILL, Ill. — Alva J. Ross, 98, of Tunnel Hill died at 10:39 p.m. Saturday at his home.

Mr. Ross taught for 30 years at Hough Grade School in Dupo and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a devoted member of the Reynoldsburg Church near Tunnel Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn A. Ross; two sons, Glenn Ross of Marion and Lonnie Ross of Tunnel Hill; one daughter, Jeanne Ross of Tunnel Hill; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers. His parents were William Ned Ross and Bertha Ross.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reynoldsburg Church near Tunnel Hill. Burial will be in Reynoldsburg Cemetery.

Military rites will be accorded by Beggs-Gurley VFW Post 5222 and the Illinois National Guard Burial Honors Detail.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and after noon Wednesday at the church.
