Adrian Jacob Roof, age 76, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at ­­­7:30 a.m. on October 9, 2012, at Southgate Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, Ill.

He was born in McCracken County and was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed working with all the activities of the church. He has been a song leader, lector, usher and Eucharistic Minister. He loved cooking for the Knights of Columbus fish fries and being chairman of the political speakers at the St. John Picnics for 40 years.

Mr. Roof was a Real Estate Owner/Broker for 45 years and retired with Century 21 Service Realty Inc. He was a past president of the Paducah Board of Realtors, a member of the Kentucky Realtors Association, National Association of Realtors and Realtor of the Year in 1976. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 52 years. Lifetime member of the Paducah Lions Club, having worked with the Lion’s Club Telethon for over 40 years and received the Melvin Jones Lifetime Achievement Award. He has worked many local and charitable events over the years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and also served in the National Guard. He received many recognition and sales awards on the local, state and national level.

Survivors include his wife of 49 ½ years, Barbara Nell O’Daniel Roof; two daughters, Karen Ann Roof Boudreaux and husband Kerry of Lexington, Ky., and Sheila Carol Roof of Paducah; one son, Steven Adrian Roof and wife Greta of Franklin, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Kala Boudreaux, Kelsey Boudreaux and Kate Boudreaux of Lexington, Ky., Rachel Roof, Noah Roof, Silas Roof and Nathaniel Roof of Franklin, Tenn.; seven brothers, Gerald Roof and wife Patricia, Phil Roof and wife Linda, Paul Roof and wife Alice, Charlie Roof and wife Marilyn, David Roof and wife Sally, and Gene Roof and wife Marianne all of Paducah, Ky., and Fr. Frank Roof of Davies, Fla.; one sister, Mary Sue Roof McLaughlin and husband Dennis of Richmond, Va.; one aunt, Margaret Sue Lattus Gibson of Paducah, Ky.; and several nieces; nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Gore Roof, and his mother, Elizabeth Lattus Roof; a brother, Louis Joseph Roof; and infant brother, James Howard Roof.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012, at the St. John’s Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Roof and Rev. Tom Buckman officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Catholic Church Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, 120 Memorial Drive, Paducah, Ky., where prayers will be at 7:30 p.m.
