The Calloway County High School Chemistry team won 1st place at the 42nd annual Murray State University Chemistry Scholarship Tournament on Nov. 8. The team of Cody Bergman, Aaron Collie, Landon Fike, Simon Mikulcik accompanied by their chemistry teacher, Erica Gray, defeated 19 schools from four states, bringing home more than $2,800 in scholarships and $550 in cash prizes. Three CCHS students earned individual honors. Aaron Collie won 4th place, Simon Mikulcik won 3rd place, and Landon Fike took 1st place. The Paducah Tilghman Junior Varsity Academic team won the Region 1 JV Challenge at PTHS on Nov. 10. Calloway County was runner-up, and Heath was third. Tilghman's team took first place in quick recall. In written assessments, Jackson Rudolph (9) was first and Meg Hancock (9) and Tori Taylor (10) tied for second in Composition. Reese Butler (9) was first and Erin Burba (10) was third in Math. Erin Burba was third in Science. Tori Taylor placed 6th in Language Arts.
