McConnell fought tirelessly to keep USEC plant operating

By RAY WURTH Paducah

EDITOR:

Mrs. Fields is confusing in her bashing McConnell in her letter to the editor.

She states that McConnell promised to keep USEC open. She said some people believed him and re-elected him. She said it was all a pack of lies. FACT: McConnell does not have unilateral power to keep the plant open or to close it. He fought the DOE tirelessly to keep the plant open, but the DOE chose to close the plant. McConnell did not close the plant.

She stated that McConnell is against the EPA. She is dead right. The EPA and Obama are fighting to bankrupt the coal industry. Obama stated those remarks in his speeches.

She stated that the EPA's job is to make the miners' working conditions safe. FACT: It is MSHA that regulates miners' health and safety in their workplace. It seems as though she is inadvertently praising McConnell.

She said Republicans are blaming Obama for the border chaos. She said the Bush administration wanted to give amnesty to the illegal immigrants. She is right. FACT: The amnesty was for those already here, not future illegal immigrants. It is the president's job now to uphold the Constitution and secure our borders. Both Obama and Harry Reid stated that our borders are very secure. Yeah, sure they are. Ninety-five thousand illegal immigrants have crossed our borders so far this year. Reid and Obama want their votes. They want to feed, clothe, house, educate them and provide free health care for them. We taxpayers pay for this. Do you think this is fair?

I wish people would do their homework before they go the polls. Maybe they wouldn't vote for these idiots. I think that if she reads this letter she'll probably vote for Mitch in November.

Title: I think it will take more than homework for some to understand.

Homework alone will not change some people's minds. They must first have the ability to understand what they are reading. Mrs. Fields will never vote for McConnell or any other Republican and probably never has. The truth is irrelevant. When I first read her Letter to the Editor I was struck with the total lack of knowledge of some and I wondered why they chose to display that for the whole community to see.
I was born and raised in central Illinois and had a perfect opportunity to observe Chicago politics at work. The only time a Chicago Democrat makes a truthful statement is by accident. Truthful candidates cannot be elected because their opponents are not laboring under that restriction. Obama is a product of that Chicago machine. I see the same problem here in Kentucky
