Billy Grahams of the world needed in the Middle East

By MARY SCOTT Gilbertsville

EDITOR:

All things are possible to those who believe, and I do believe that the Middle East can live in peace someday.

What disturbs me most is when these people are referred to as religious groups. What religion is that, that teaches kill your neighbor, innocent women and children?

After 10 years it's time to bring our military home. We have demonstrated we can't take care of them after they have risked all to take care of us. They could be put to work in their own country building roads, bridges, alternative energies, etc.

Oh yes, the Middle East does need advisors, but no military ones. Let's send the Billy Grahams of the world, Pope Francis, Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, Rev. Jakes, religious leaders who could teach them love, tolerance, forgiveness, acceptance and respect for one another.

The radicals should be going to soccer games, Little League games with the family, picnics and parties. To them killing innocent women and children is their sport and their fireworks are car bombs, missiles, etc. There are generations in which that is all they know.

Killing begets killing.

Hatred begets more hatred.

Love begets love.

We are tired of seeing ones come home with missing arms and legs and scarred souls for life.

The motto around the world should be, "Let's give peace a chance."
