New downtown hotel should feature local art

By BILL FORD Paducah

EDITOR:

It's welcoming news that we are to have a new downtown hotel on our riverfront. The future Hilton Garden Inn hotel will not only add six stories to our skyline, but will give us a much-needed visual improvement to our historic city skyline.

And with this on our horizon I would like to strongly suggest that we take advantage of this new structure and use only local and regional artwork throughout the new building. This would include art in the lobby, restaurant, hallways, guest rooms, etc. What a great way to show off paintings, quilts, sculpture and many forms of art that have now become so vital to our city and county. They could all be labeled with the artists' names and instantly people will be exposed to what all we offer in Lower Town and in our downtown shops and businesses. This is fast becoming a major mecca for the arts with the continuing expansion of our Paducah School of Art and Design (PSAD).

Let's continue to think and do positive things in our lovely and immensely charming city.

I love my hometown.
