New West End park could be better-utilized

By JEAN FINERAN Paducah

EDITOR:

Quite frequently we make trips out past the Jackson Street-Lone Oak Road intersection and can't help but notice the lovely park provided by Independence Bank. However, we also can't help but notice that no one uses it. The only people we have ever seen there are the maintenance crew doing the yard work. There are no amenities for children to play there, no playground equipment of any kind, not even a sandbox, and the area is not big enough for children to play baseball or soccer.

In my opinion, this lovely park is a drain on the taxpayers for maintenance when no one uses it. How about taking a poll of people living in the area as to what they would like to see there?

My thoughts are to add a water fountain and make it a second dog park for those pet owners on the West End who may have time constraints to drive all the way over to the east side of Paducah for recreation time with their dogs.
