Non-denominational event seeks to bring area's Christians together

By BARNEY McNEILL Paducah

EDITOR:

It may seem strange that a Christian organization would speak against the churches today, when they're trying to get them to join it to further the gospel of Jesus Christ. The West Kentucky Christian Alliance also speaks out about our losing our Christian values daily, and we think that includes speaking out about, yes, even the church today.

For example, we're currently working on our 2nd Annual Paducah Area Christian Festival, and it would surprise you as to how many churches in this area are totally against it. Yes, trying to get all Christians, regardless of their denomination affiliation, together to celebrate Jesus would seem a logical experience for all Christians to embrace. Yet that's not the case here.

We will continue to celebrate Jesus in all kinds of ways, however, and we'd love to see all participate, whether in our sponsoring this year's National Day of Prayer at McNutt Plaza (which by the way, has this year's theme as One Voice - do you see the connection?), or this year's festival in October, or in anything else God inspires us to do.
