Wilson's piano performance was historic symphony highlight

By BILL FORD Paducah

Here I go again in praise and adulation for the Paducah Symphony Orchestra and our glorious conductor, Raffaele Ponti. This recent concert featuring Terrence Wilson on piano was a definite highlight in the history of performances from our symphony. This talented, gifted artist performed Ravel's Piano Concerto with resounding success. In fact, this was the finest interpretation of this concerto that I have ever heard.

Boy are we lucky we can see and hear something like this in Paducah at the beautiful Carson Center. To fully describe the beauty of this performance has had me searching for further adjectives to bestow on Mr. Wilson and Maestro Ponti. In addition at this concert were breathtaking performances of Gershwin's Cuban Overture and the rarely heard Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 2.

Now, I need to ask - when is Mr. Wilson to return to our lovely city in order to further enrich our lives with his beautiful talent?

In closing, I wish to urge your financial and moral support to our orchestra through the unpleasant and unfair issues presently confronted by the Barbecue on the River board. The symphony is a very vital part of this community and has done such wonderful work in supporting the youth in western Kentucky and Illinois.
