Marvin Paul West

BENTON - Marvin Paul West, 83, of Benton, Ky., passed away at 7:15 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at his home.

Marvin was a retired carpenter and a member of the Carpenters Local Union #357 in Paducah. He had formerly worked at Modine Manufacturing. Marvin was one of the oldest members of the Vanzora Baptist Church where he served as the Sunday School clerk along with his wife of 63 years, Betty Henson West of Benton, Kentucky.

In addition to his wife, Marvin is survived by two daughters, Kathie Jean Rudd and her husband John, and Carolyn Bernice Burkeen and her husband Rodney, all of Benton, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Krista Melone, Rusty York, Logan Rudd, Andy Rudd, Brandi Schiller and Morgan Burkeen; eight great-grandchildren, Shelbie Melone, Danny Melone, Brayden York, Myles Rudd, Deacon Rudd, Ayla Engler, Maggie Rudd and Parker Schiller; and one brother, Clay Junior West of Benton, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelly Michelle York; and a son-in-law, Russell York. His parents were Richard D. "Sonny" West and Addie Mae Harrell West.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Filbeck-Cann and King Funeral Home. Bro. Max Anderson, Bro. Randy McClure, Bro. Carl McNiel and Bro. Bill Ramsey will officiate. Burial with military rites conducted by the William A. Doyle Post #236 of the American Legion will follow in the Marshall County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Filbeck-Cann and King Funeral Home.
