Mark Smith

MAYFIELD - Mark T. Smith, 87, of Mayfield died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at his home.

Mr. Smith was a member of Spence Chapel United Methodist Church and was a retired farmer. He was an Army veteran, having served during the World War II era.

He is survived by his sons Wayne Smith, Darrell Smith, Kenneth Smith and Randy T. Smith, all of Mayfield; his brothers Keith Smith of Mayfield and Glen Allen Smith of McCracken County; his sisters Rachel Kyle and Sandra Kay Young, both of St. Louis; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Marie Womack Smith; his son Tommy Dale Smith; his daughter Sandy Darnell; and two sisters. His parents were Thomas Allan and Iona Mae Hackney Smith.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Byrn Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel Jackson and the Rev. Kathy Belcher officiating. Burial will be at Spence Chapel Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at the funeral home.
