Bob Zirkle

Staff report

BENTON - Robert Lee "Bob" Zirkle, 85, of Benton, Ky., passed away at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at his home.

Bob had retired with 30 years of service to the Chicago Area Transit Authority as a bus driver and supervisor. He was a member of the Union Ridge United Methodist Church and the William A. Doyle Post #236 of the American Legion. Bob was a World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Jean Blare Zirkle of Benton, Ky.; one daughter, Pamela Kay Taylor of Iuka, Miss.; two sons, Robert Lee Zirkle Jr. of Benton, Ky., and William Roy Zirkle of Berwyn, Ill.; four grandchildren, Richard Alan Taylor, Heather Deanna Wilcox Hughes, Bonnie Lynn Zirkle and Brandon Scott Zirkle; and ten great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William Ralph Zirkle and Eva Verl Glendening Zirkle.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at the Union Ridge United Methodist Church. Rev. Kim Morrison and Elder Robert Chandler will officiate and military rites will be conducted by the William A. Doyle Post #236 of the American Legion. The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Filbeck-Cann and King Funeral Home and Crematory and after 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at the Union Ridge United Methodist Church.
