James Read Hawthorne

Staff report

James Read Hawthorne, 78, of Paducah passed away at 4 a.m. on Friday, July 4, 2014, at Baptist Health Paducah.

Mr. Hawthorne attended First Baptist Church of Paducah, he was co-owner of Hawthorne Properties and Hawthorne Farms with his son and grandson, he was a member of Chief Paduke Gun Club, a Free Mason and Shriner, and he loved to travel America shooting skeet.

Mr. Hawthorne is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Sue Kearney and husband Dr. Robert Kearney of San Diego, Calif.; grandson, James B. Hawthorne Jr. and wife Miranda of Paducah and their children, Cole Bradley Hawthorne, Hunter Read Hawthorne and Luke Riley Hawthorne; grandchildren, Kelley, Owen, Emmitt, Emily and Patrick.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Hawthorne; and a son, James B. Hawthorne. His parents were Kirker and Helen Read Hawthorne.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014, at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner and Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner and Orr Funeral Home.
