Joe Morrison

Staff report

VIRDEN, Ill. - Joe C. Morrison, 71, of Virden died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Heritage Manor in Carlinville.

He served with the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963 aboard the U.S.S. Lloyd Thomas. He worked for Rockwell International as a machinist for over 29 years and retired in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Morrison of Virden; three sons, Troy Morrison of Maine, Robert J. Duffey of Rockford, and Michael Hardiman of Sterling; five daughters, Diane Morrison, Evelyn Morrison and Christina Morrison, all of Rockford, Penny Ward of Amboy, and Christi Ann Hamm of Springfield; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Staff Sgt. Gary R. Harper; two brothers; and two sisters. His parents were Troy and Lela Cothran Morrison.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, in a private ceremony in Matheny Cemetery in Land Between the Lakes.
