Michael McGinnis

Staff report

TUNNEL HILL, Ill. - Services for Michael P. McGinnis, 61, of Tunnel Hill will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. David Diestelkamp will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Fraternal Cemetery with military rites conducted.

Mr. McGinnis died at 3:27 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at his home.

Mr. McGinnis was a veteran of the U.S Air Force. He owned and operated McGinnis Logging Co., and was a sports correspondent for the Vienna Times and Goreville Gazette newspapers. He was a member of the 4th & Lewis Street Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Patti Duer McGinnis; his children, Zachary McGinnis of Herrin, Kalie McGinnis, Ethan McGinnis and Hannah McGinnis, all of Tunnel Hill; his mother, Charlotte McGinnis of Freeport; three sisters, Kathy Sies and Maureen Kornfeind, both of Freeport, and Mary Swearengen of Point Lookout, Mo.; and a brother, Tim McGinnis of Freeport.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence J. McGinnis.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the funeral home.
