Thomas Everett Clark

BENTON - Thomas Everett Clark, 88, of Benton, Ky., passed away at 6:40 p.m. on March 6, 2014, at his home.

Mr. Clark was the son of Thomas Alva Clark and Jesse Ojal (Travis) Clark. He attended school in Marshall County and received a degree from Tolar's Business College in Paris, Tenn. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. Upon his return from the U.S. Army he went to work at the former Pennsalt Chemical Plant in Calvert City, Ky., where he retired from the Safety Dept. in 1982. He was one of the first Emergency Medical Technicians in Marshall County. Mr. Clark was a lifelong member of the Baptist faith and member of the New Zion Baptist Church. He was the song director at Hardin Baptist Church for many years and also taught Sunday School. He loved music and played his guitar and sang country and gospel music every chance he got. After retiring he played with a group of friends in The Elderly Brothers Band.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loraine (Primo) Clark; two daughters, Nancy Clark, Beverly (Clark) Thompson (Ted O. Thompson) of Benton, Ky.; two sons, Jeffrey T. Clark (Renee) of Benton, Ky., and Terry E. Clark (Cathleen) of Murray, Ky. There are 10 grandchildren, Ted O. Thompson Jr. (Linda), Lori Kent (Nathan), Joshua Hopkins (Jordyn), Jaclyn Travis (Denver), Jessica Stewart, Andrea Niedermier (Curtis), Kasie Clark, Travis Clark, Josh Joyce and Kevin Miller; also eight great-grandchildren, Sarah Thompson, Alexis, Emily and Jacob Kent, Gabrielle and James Hopkins, Vesper Travis and Owen Thomas McClure; two sisters, Hazel (Clark) Allen and Virginia Inez (Clark) Colombo; brother-in-law, Frank C. Primo and wife Bernice. There are many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, also a lifelong best friend, Ralph McLemore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Ojal (Travis) Clark and Thomas Alva Clark; and sisters, Ruby Nell Wyatt, Joyce and Mary Travis Clark.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, with Bro. Rodney Wallace and Bro. Ricky Cunningham officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow in the Darnall Cemetery, Benton, Ky.

Visitation will be held between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Collier Funeral Home.
