Helen Ruth Russell

Helen Ruth Russell, age 93, of Paducah, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Ruth retired as an executive secretary in Memphis, Tennessee. Ruth had a lifelong love of sewing and enjoyed quilting after her retirement. She was also a member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Janet McCracken, and her husband, John, of Paducah; her son, James Russell, and his wife Maureen, of Escondido, California; and four grandchildren, Anna McCracken Velarde, Melissa McCracken Center, Alice McCracken Stoner, and Russell McCracken; along with seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Segale; and a niece, Virginia Marvin.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John William Russell; one sister, and five brothers. Her parents were Charles John and Anna Walter Segale.

A funeral mass for Ruth will take place at 12:00 noon Friday, January 24, 2014, at the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, with Father Brian Roby officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee.

There will be no visitation. The Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of the arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 116 South 6th St. Paducah, KY 42001, or the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 5645 Blandville Road, Paducah, KY 42001.
