Jimmie Duane Slaughter, 73, of Paducah, passed away at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Slaughter was born July 10, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Charlie Solon Slaughter and Charline Thompson Slaughter. He was of the Cumberland Presbyterian faith, but embraced and respected all faiths. He was a painter and electrician and worked for Pennwalt, now Arkema Chemical Plant. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served from 1957-1959 as a medic in Nuremberg, Germany, and from 1959-1963 in the Army Reserves. He worked with the Labor Union IAM as a Union Official. Mr. Slaughter attended Draughons Business College and Paducah Community College. He had various secondary jobs such as, auctioneer, real estate appraiser, and antique appraiser, all while working full time at Pennwalt in Calvert City, KY.
Mr. Slaughter is survived by special friend and companion, Theresa Stroer of Paducah; a sister-in-law, Joyce Barefield; two aunts; one uncle, all from Marshall Co.; and several cousins from various places.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Baggett Slaughter.
Memorial services will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Jim Fulton officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the service at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
