Plea entered:

A plea agreement has been reached in the capital murder case against Ryan Champion, an Oak Grove man accused of conspiring in a murder-for-hire scheme that resulted in the deaths of his mother, father and sister in Oct. 2014, and killing his accomplice. Champion pleaded guilty to three counts of complicity to murder, one count of murder and one count of kidnapping. For more details see Friday's edition of The Sun

Hertis Wilkerson, 100

Staff report

MAYFIELD - Hertis Gay Wilkerson, 100, of Mayfield died at 2:48 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Green Acres Healthcare Facility.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and retired from Merit Clothing Co.

Mrs. Wilkerson is survived by a brother, Freeman B. Cook of Mayfield; and a sister, Reba Cook of Dawson Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Byron Wilkerson; a brother; and a sister. Her parents were Clarence and Vera West Cook.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at Mayfield Memory Gardens with the Rev. Allen Morris officiating.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield.
